Starting in May, every First Friday will be Belly Dance night at Sacred Space Yoga in Frisco, Texas. With a focus on tribal fusion and a mixture of styles from the Middle East and Baltic countries, this monthly dance class is a great option for Ladies' Night or Mom's Night out to break away from the typical dinner out! Although, I love food, so I'd probably still go after class for some fajitas or channa masala...but that's just me. And I digress.
I absolutely love Belly Dance, because truly it is one of the great unifiers of the dance world. You are truly never too old or too young for this dance, and there are so many variations of the same dance form from all over the world, that there is something in common with each style for Egypt, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Iraq, South America, and the United States. The roots of Belly Dance go so far back that it is probable that the dance started prior to written history. It is the dance of sisterhood, having been created by and for women, with some theories suggesting that Belly Dance was intended to help women through labor, and indeed, there are so many of the movements within the dance that actually assist in positioning the baby optimally in LOA (Left Occipital Anterior) for easier decent into the birth canal.
So, with love and intention, come over to Sacred Space Yoga the first Friday of every month to shimmy, omi, maya and taxeem with snake arms while doing full body undulations and hip pop-locks.
You know, that caught your attention. Put it in your book. Make your dinner reservations for afterwards and get ready to have fun at First Friday Belly Dance!
